At Monday’s Foster Township meeting, officials advised residents to maintain their properties.
“Since we’ve gone green, I’ll be paying some personal visits,” said Code Enforcement Officer Kevin Shaffer.
Shaffer explained that he worked on five code enforcement complaints in May: three on Bolivar Drive, one in the 1100 block of East Main Street and one on Derrick Road. He also replacarded a Seaward Avenue address.
But, with social distancing measures in place, Shaffer has been having trouble getting residents to return messages.
Supervisor Gus Crissman added, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have not been out to do the road survey or the blight survey.”
Township Road Foreman Chad Babcock, Shaffer and Crissman will be out soon to check on the condition of the township.
“You’re going to see us around, so tidy up a bit because we’re going to start getting tougher,” said Crissman.
Under public discussion, Paula Webster from Mercer — the owner of the new restaurant being built in the former Perkins building on Bolivar Drive — introduced herself to the supervisors.
She agreed that the food in the new restaurant, called Mama Jane’s Eatery, would be similar to Perkins, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. She described it as “American foods” with “affordable pricing.”
Webster said the actual opening date will be up to the contractors who are doing renovation, but noted, “I would say by the end of August we’ll be open for sure.”
Also under public discussion, a resident asked if a “watch children” or “slow for children” sign could be installed in Bates Road.
“It will happen tomorrow,” said Babcock.
Supervisor Chairman George Hocker clarified that it would happen (today) as long as there is no emergency.
The supervisors denied the sale of four properties from the McKean County repository: one on Bates Road, one at 176 S. Kendall Ave., one at 16 Rew-Bradford Road and one on Tuna Cross Road.
Later in the meeting, Hocker explained the denials were based on the review of what bidders say their expectations of the property are.
Supervisors approved two new agreements for soccer field use in the township.
One grants the Bradford Community Soccer Club use of the soccer fields in Foster Brook Community Park from June 30, 2020, to June 30, 2030. The other grants Bradford Area School District use of the Tuna Cross Road soccer field from June 1, 2020, to June 30, 2028.
Also, the supervisors awarded the lowest of four bids for mowing: $175 per cut from Field’s Lawn Care.
They adopted a hazard mitigation plan, too.
Hocker reminded residents to fill out the 2020 census, as well as to vote in today’s primary election.
