LEWIS RUN — A Mount Jewett man is in McKean County Jail after he allegedly shot another man’s dog on Friday, Lewis Run-based state police reported.
Christopher J. Julian, 46, of Mount Jewett, was arraigned before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals-causing serious bodily injury or death, a third-degree felony; and defiant trespass, a third-degree misdemeanor.
According to police, at 3:25 p.m. Friday, state police were dispatched to an animal cruelty complaint in the area of Anderson Street and Anderson Street Extension in Hamlin Township. Through investigation, police determined that Julian shot a dog at close range with a .44 caliber Magnum handgun.
The dog suffered serious injuries, police reported.
According to police, the dog belonged to a 52-year-old Mount Jewett man.
Julian was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for June 8.
