A Smethport man pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to allegations that he stole firearms, jewelry and Case knives from a home.
Kyle R. South, 29, entered the plea to charges of burglary and theft by unlawful taking. According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, on Jan. 10, 2019, South entered a Foster Township home while no one was there. South took a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle, a .38 revolver, and various jewelry and Case knives. The items were valued at $6,896.62.
South will be sentenced June 16.
Also in court, Blake A. Wian, 20, of Smethport, was sentenced to one year of probation for a charge of theft by unlawful taking and a summary charge. According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade, on March 4, Wian stole property from his brother including $13 in cash, a bottle of whiskey, earbuds and the contents of a change jar; also, he threatened to beat up his brother for “being a snitch.”
Brendan C. O’Connell, 23, of Pelham, N.C., pleaded guilty to charges of DUI-general impairment and a summary charge. O’Connell will serve five days to six months of incarceration, and he will serve those five days through day-reporting to the 3-G Barn in Smethport.
Jamie L. Flores, 57, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to one count of DUI-alcohol. He will serve six months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions.
Guy L. Simmons Jr., 44, of Bradford, was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for DUI-controlled substance and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
