In preparation for curbside pickup, book drops at the Bradford Area Public Library and S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library in Port Allegany are now open.
All materials can be returned to the library, according to the Bradford library. Borrowing policies are still relaxed, so fines will not be accrued if items aren’t returned right away. If the book drop is full or overflowing, wait until later in the week to return materials.
In Port Allegany, the book drop on the corner of Maple and Pine streets is now open for library returns. However, people are asked to hold their library materials donations, as the library is only accepting library returns at this point. The library will announce at a later date when it will continue accepting gently-used donations of books, audio-books, DVDs, magazines, puzzles, books for the Friends of the Library book sale, and other library materials.
For public health and safety, any library material donations left at the library must be disposed of in the trash, explained S.W. Smith library staff. Keep library material donations at home until further notice.
The Office of Commonwealth Libraries has released “The Framework for Reopening Public Libraries.” S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library is in “Stage 1 of the Yellow Phase for Public Libraries: Preparing Staff, Collections, and Facility for Return to Service.” Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement on when limited Library To-Go service will begin at S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library.
