RIDGWAY — In recognition of National Prevention Week, the Elk County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging residents to make use of the drug collection boxes available at several locations throughout the county.
Boxes are located at the sheriff’s office, the City of St. Marys Police Department, the Ridgway Borough Police Department, the Johnsonburg Police Department and at the Ridgway-based state police barracks.
To ensure confidentiality, make sure any identifying information on the label is blacked out.
Sheriff’s deputies are able to pick up unused medications from anyone in Elk County who may have concerns about traveling during the pandemic. Call the sheriff’s office at 814-776-5353 Monday through Friday between 8:20 a.m. and 4 p.m. to arrange for pickup.
Because the judicial emergency is still in effect, anyone wishing to drop medication off at the sheriff’s department should call to meet a deputy outside the courthouse.
