ST. MARYS — Plans are finalized for a Pennsylvania Republican candidate forum to be held May 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Education Building of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in St. Marys.
At the forum, three candidates for State Senator of the 25th District and three candidates for State Representative of the 75th District will introduce themselves followed by a question and answer session. Attorney Thomas Wagner will emcee. COVID-19 restrictions do not allow voters to attend, so they are encouraged to submit questions on the website, www.lifemattersnow.org, prior to the event.
Dick Jones of Life Matters Now stated that the forum will be broadcast live on The River and The Hound radio stations and livestreamed on The River Facebook page. The forum will also be posted afterwards on the River and also on www.lifemattersnow.org for viewers who may not be able to tune in live.
It is critically important for voters to learn about the candidates as current Sen. Joe Scarnati, R-Brockway, and Rep. Matt Gabler, R-DuBois, are not seeking re-election in the PA primary to be held on June 2.
All six Republican candidates will attend. For State Senator of the 25th District, the candidates are Cris Dush, Jefferson County, Jim Brown, Jefferson County, and John Herm Suplizio, Clearfield County. For State Representative of the 75th District, the candidates are Mike Armanini, Clearfield County, Michael Clement, Clearfield County, and Lisa A. Labrasca Becker, Clearfield County.
Although the forum is sponsored by Life Matters Now and Elk County Right to Life, questions are not limited to pro-life issues. Direct inquiries to Dick Jones, richardeugenej@gmail.com, or Pastor Wiest, stwiest@gmail.com.
