SMETHPORT — The McKean County Conservation District received $2,000 to implement Protecting McKean County Watersheds conservation education programs from the state Association of Conservation Districts.
“The project funded through this mini-grant program will reach many of our county’s citizens. Our conservation district will educate a variety of audiences on actions they can take every day to make a difference for future generations,” said Sandy Thompson, district manager.
Programs through 2020 and 2021 will provide homeowners, natural resource workers, agricultural producers, and the public with the knowledge to implement practices to improve water quality in the Upper Allegheny watershed. One highlight of the project will be the popular Backyard Conservation workshop series.
Forty-one projects will be funded in 29 of the state’s counties. Projects include agricultural field days, streamside landowner workshops, forestry workshops, homeowner workshops and more. For a complete listing of awarded projects, visit https://tinyurl.com/2020-21NPS.
