SCAVENGER HUNT: “One thing I’ve learned in the past few weeks of quarantine is just how much we need each other.”
That’s from actor Misha Collins, best known for his role as Castiel on the television show Supernatural, currently finishing up its final season on the CW channel.
Misha has set up a scavenger hunt for April 25. He explains:
“We need to connect, to lean on each other, and to help those most in need. With that in mind, a few days ago (aka a lifetime in ‘quarantine time’), I sent out an email proposing a short scavenger hunt to connect us in these uncertain times, inspire creativity, and help make a difference for those who have been hit hardest by the COVID crisis.”
He noted that the response to his idea was positive and overwhelming, so he has set up a “1-day play-at-home scavenger hunt” for noon Pacific Time (3 p.m. Eastern) for April 25. All participants who register will be able to “virtually join thousands of others around the planet and take a break to play an incredibly fun, collaborative, and inspiring game that also supports COVID relief.”
There is a fee to participate, which will go toward providing 10 meals for children who are missing meals due to the school closures caused by COVID-19.
“You can play from home and participate as much or as little as you like — so if you’re a busy essential worker, working-from-home-while-homeschooling parent, a used-to-be-at-college-having-fun-now-back-at-home-feeling-grounded adult, a kid who’s watching too many movies, or just someone in need of a diversion, you can indulge in some zero-pressure fun that actually helps you do some good,” the actor said in his statement.
The money raised will be used to support No Kid Hungry, the Random Acts Support Program, and Save the Children to help feed kids in need. Participants can assemble a virtual team or sign up solo and be assigned to a team.
