COVID-19-related closures have impacted the nation. For the Class of 2020, that means a lot of celebrations that won’t be held.
In honor of those students who worked hard for their diploma, alternate ways to celebrate are being found.
The Bradford branch of the Mountain Laurel Credit Union is honoring Bradford Area High School seniors. The business is displaying the names of the seniors who belong to the branch, along with a sport, club or occupation, on the front window of the building.
“Even though our lobby is closed and we are doing ‘curbside banking,’ we wanted them to know that we are still here for them and want to support them by honoring them in their senior year,” said Nicole Cole, Bradford Branch manager.
Cole explained that this week was BAHS Spirit Week and the credit union staff also joined in and had Western Day, Color Wars and wore Red and Black on Friday to show Owl Pride.
The parents of area seniors are working to celebrate them in a way that is appropriate and maintains social distancing. Efforts to decorate the doors of the homes of seniors have been started, and there is a project underway to have area business feature seniors in their windows to allow the community to celebrate their hard-earned success with the Class of 2020.
