A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly assaulting two people and endangering a child in a fight on Bank Street Thursday evening.
Gage M. Foster, 20, of 71 School St., is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a second-degree felony; strangulation, simple assault and three counts of recklessly endangering another, all second-degree misdemeanors; and two counts each of harassment and disorderly conduct, summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, just after 6:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Bank Street for a fight in progress in the roadway. When police arrived, William Roggenbaum was bleeding from his face and his nose appeared to be broken, the complaint stated. Roggenbaum told police that Foster had come to his residence while he and the mother of his child, Heather Payne, were engaged in a custody exchange.
Foster began arguing with Payne about being at Roggenbaum’s residence. While Roggenbaum was inside, he saw Foster strike Payne in the head and face. He immediately went outside, and Foster started hitting him in the head and face multiple times with a closed fist, causing a broken nose and bleeding. Foster then left the area on foot, the complaint stated.
Payne told police that Foster had choked her. She is pregnant, and her 5-year-old child was about a foot away at the time of the assault, the complaint stated.
Foster was arrested by Bradford City Police, who learned that he had a past history of violence with the same two alleged victims, the complaint indicated.
He was arraigned Friday before District Judge Dom Cercone and remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
