LOCKPORT, N.Y. — During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, communities have stepped up to work together to help protect the health and safety of our most vulnerable populations. To help support these efforts, Crosby’s Stores has worked to help those organizations and individuals that are out on the front lines through a number of different campaigns.
With the demand for blood donors at area hospitals higher than ever, Crosby’s has partnered with ConnectLife, Western New York’s only community blood center, to host community blood drives across the region at local stores.
Four upcoming drives are scheduled in Bradford, Pa., on April 28, May 22, July 28 and Sept. 30.
So far, events have been held at store locations across Western New York in Mayville, Arcade, Hinsdale, Boston, Wales and Lockport, as well as the Crosby’s in Bradford.
“Blood donations are critical at this time to help save lives and help those in need at our hospitals and other care facilities,” said Doug Galli, general manager and vice president of Crosby’s Stores. “We’re proud to partner with ConnectLife to help provide more opportunities to help collect donations in this time of elevated need throughout Western New York and northern Pennsylvania.”
Individuals who donate blood during one of these drives at a Crosby’s location will receive a $5 gift card to Crosby’s for their contribution. From the seven events held to date, ConnectLife has collected whole blood and double red cell donations from 103 donors, including 61 first-time donors who were able to donate thanks to the convenient donation locations at area Crosby’s stores, said Amanda Farrell with ConnectLife.
In addition to the ongoing blood drive campaigns, Crosby’s stores across the region have committed to help those on the front lines by offering them a free coffee or cappuccino from now through April 30. This includes all active military, first responders, such as police and sheriff’s deputies, EMTs and firefighters, as well as doctors, nurses, hospital technicians and other medical patient care professionals.
To receive a free coffee or cappuccino, first responders and medical staff can simply show their active duty or facility ID badge at checkout. This offer is valid at all Crosby’s Coffeehouse locations, and participation varies at stores with Tim Horton’s franchises. Check with your local store to learn more.
