A Kane woman is in McKean County Jail after she allegedly ran over a female with her truck after a fight.
Devon J. Hulings, 29, of 194 Paradise Drive, Kane, was arraigned early Saturday morning before District Judge William Todd on charges of aggravated assault, causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony; aggravated assault by vehicle and accidents involving death or personal injury, third-degree felonies; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors; and the following summary charges: harassment, criminal mischief, careless driving, failure to notify police of accident with injury or death, reckless driving and failure to story and give information or render aid.
According to the criminal complaint, on Friday in front of a home at 68 Church St., Hamilton Township, Hulings and Ashley Haight “engaged in a verbal and physical altercation.”
They separated from the fight, and, while Haight was standing in front of the driver’s side of Hulings’ pick-up truck, Hulings got in the truck and drove away, running Haight over with the truck, the complaint stated.
Hulings did not stop after she hit Haight, court records stated.
At 1 a.m. Saturday, Lewis Run-based state police interviewed Hulings at the state police barracks. She said that Haight was hitting the front of Hulings truck, and admitted that she got in and drove away, hitting Haight; Hulings also admitted that she knew she ran over Haight and that she failed to stop, according to the complaint.
Hulings told troopers that she drove to her parents home and did not call 911, though she noted that she had planned to call when she got there, court records said.
The complaint did not state what the pair was arguing about.
Haight was transported by medical helicopter to UPMC Hamot in Erie for treatment of serious injuries, court records stated.
Hulings is in jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for April 20.
