Residents in McKean, Potter and Warren Counties should be prepared for strong winds throughout today, according to the National Weather Service in State College.
“It’s going to be pretty gusty,” said meteorologist Craig Evanego. “There will be winds gusting up to 50 to 60 miles per hour through the day.”
Evanego went on to explain that the winds will come in from the southwest early this morning ahead of the cold front and by late morning they will become west and northwesterly winds.
During this blustery day, residents should be prepared for possible power outages.
“I don’t know if there will be widespread power outages, but there could be some spotty outages,” said Evenago. “If people have loose things out in the yard — things that could blow around — you might want to bring them in.”
According to the National Weather Service website, other precautions people can take before high winds hit are to keep trees and branches near their house trimmed, secure loose objects, close windows and doors and move any objects of value inside or under a sturdy structure.
