“The B-Free Church” has been adopted as the nickname for the Bradford First Free Methodist Church.
Jim Lenaway of Kane was recently installed to fill the pulpit at the B-Free Church by Free Methodist District Leader Pete Tremblay. Tremblay is the pastor of God’s Country Church in Coudersport.
Lenaway said, “The new nickname conveys the friendliness that the church is known for and honors the history of Free Methodist denomination that was founded during the anti-slavery movement and their desire to encourage open access to all. I’m honored and humbled to accept this opportunity to lead at B-Free because the members here are so welcoming and have a heart for the Lord.
“Even in the midst of this pandemic, we decided to install our new banner because eventually we’ll have the doors open again,” he added. “In the meantime, like most churches, we are conducting virtual worship services on our Facebook page.”
Since 1996, Lenaway and his wife Beth have operated Ordinary People Ministries, which is most known for the musical drama “Mary” that has been performed numerous times in Bradford and the surrounding area.
Beth Lenaway noted, “This new season in our lives will be an exciting time where we, along with the great folks at B-Free, can make an impact in downtown Bradford. “
B-Free Church is located at 18 Boylston St. next to the Northwest Savings Bank and is a come-as-you-are fellowship with services starting at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Jim Lenaway suggests arriving in time for coffee and camaraderie once people are allowed to gather again.
