KANE — A Neighbors Helping Neighbors group in Kane Borough is ready to help community members, Borough Mayor Brandy Schimp reported in her recent community update.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a volunteer group created in Kane Borough to reach out and care for people in need specifically related to the COVID-19 emergency. This free service is offered by volunteers at their own expense.
Volunteers have background clearances and have been given guidance to use recommended best practices for health and safety of both volunteers and persons in need. All client information will be private and confidential, and will not be shared outside of the organization. Neighbors Helping Neighbors promises to treat all persons equally regardless of race, creed or ethnic background.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors can help people:
• Shop for groceries
• Pick up prescriptions
• Go to the post office or bank
• Pick up food at the food pantry
• Phone homebound people on a regular basis to check on their health and well-being
Neighbors Helping Neighbors cannot:
• Help with long-standing or chronic problems not related to the current health crisis
• Provide transportation to or from appointments of any type
• Provide financial assistance or pay for groceries, etc.
• Provide personal care for children or adults
• Provide counseling or professional advice

The First United Methodist Church would like to remind citizens that there is a Red Cross Blood Drive from noon until 5 p.m. today at the church. There will be strict precautions in place to protect donors and staff.
All borough owned parks, including the Milton Craven Disc Golf Course, are closed. Walking in open space is allowed but please remember to practice social distancing.
