ST. MARYS — A St. Marys man has been charged in relation to a fatal accident in September 2019.
St. Marys City Police report that Anthony Michael Williams, 31, faces one felony count of an accident involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed and one misdemeanor count for the same charge. He also faces summary counts of careless driving, careless driving-unintentional death, careless driving — serious bodily injury, drivers required to be licensed and driving on roadways laned for travel — traveling in a single lane.
The charges were filed Monday, following an investigation into an accident that occurred in the early hours of Sept. 3, 2019. Police reports said a Toyota 4Runner, which was driven by Williams and traveling westbound on Route 120 within the City of St. Marys, collided head-on with a Cameron County ambulance. Police say two occupants of the ambulance and four passengers in the Toyota4Runner were transported to a hospital for treatment. Four patients were entrapped in the vehicle, according to reports.
One of Williams’ passengers, 38-year-old Amy Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Elk County Coroner Michelle A. Muccio.
Williams is scheduled to appear before District Judge Mark Jacob in St. Marys at 10 a.m. May 12.
