Olkosky-Jessop American Legion Post 194 in Emporium hosted a recent American Red Cross Blood Mobile, where 27 pints were donated.
Three donors reached milestones. Kenneth Ostrum reached 23 gallons; Dennis Grasser, 11 gallons; and Thomas Spolski, 9 gallons. Dennis Grasser was the only “double” donor for the day.
The Buffalo crew was Glenn Kraebel, Darryl Sadkowski, Brian Kavanagh and new team member Shaq Ferguson. Local volunteers were Barry Sarick, Mick Fapore, Celina Housler, Joanne Andrus, Paul Richards and Mary Greif.
Donating blood is said to be “A Gift of Life” as many will agree. There is always a great need for blood during emergencies, but blood is also needed daily for many routine medical procedures. Whether the donor has a rare blood type, a universal blood type, or anything in between, the
donation is needed.
The next Blood Drive in Emporium will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 9.
