Libraries throughout Pennsylvania are closed until further notice because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library in Port Allegany and the Hamlin Memorial Library in Smethport are both reminding patrons that e-books and audiobooks can be accessed online on OverDrive at https://senecalibraries.overdrive.com/.
McKean County residents who don’t have a library account can sign up for a temporary library account using a mobile phone.
All materials currently checked out will be automatically renewed.
The free Wi-Fi at the library is still on. Patrons can access the hotspot from the parking lot or library grounds outside the building.
Most school districts in McKean County are distributing free lunches to children ages 1-18 who live in the school district. Families should contact their school district for distribution days and times.
