RIDGWAY — Changes are being implemented at the Elk County Courthouse and Sheriff’s Office in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Access to the Elk County Courthouse will be limited exclusively to essential judicial functions and proceedings before the court.
Beginning Monday, the Sheriff’s Office has changed and extended the time to process License to Carry permits to between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for all approved applications. Permit holders should present themselves at the single point of entry where they will be screened and provided instructions before accessing the Sheriff’s Office.
Any items needing delivery to the offices within the courthouse may be dropped off at the single point of entry.
Legal documents requiring filing should be sent through the United States Postal Service.
Direct in-person filing is limited to exceptional and extraordinary circumstances, and then only by prior approval by telephone from the elected official of the filing office.
Sheriff sales that had been scheduled for March 19 will be rescheduled to April 23.
