KANE — The Kane Area Food Pantry monthly distribution will be from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at the St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church in Kane.
The food pantry entrance is on the Haines Street side of the church, at the corner of Chase and Haines Streets.
Anyone who wishes to receive food items are asked to come at the following times, according to the first letter of their last name. For March, the schedule is:
• noon to 1 p.m. L through R
• 1 to 2 p.m. S through Z
• 2 to 3 p.m. A through E
• 3 to 4 p.m. F through K
Participants must come during their scheduled time. Also, please bring proof of identity, address and income if this is a first visit of the year, or if there are any changes since last time at the food pantry. Only people living in the Kane Area School District are eligible.
There are temporary changes at the food pantry due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers ask that people exercise patience with the temporary system.
Also, they ask that participants thoroughly wash their hands before they come to pick up food, then wash them again once they return home. To serve people as safely as possible, participants will receive most of their food already packed up in a box, though they will still be able to make choices for some items.
People should not risk coming to get food if they are sick, but instead write and sign a note to have another person pick it up.
Anyone with questions about the food pantry may call 598-6162 or 594-6918.
