The state Department of Health has reported one positive case of coronavirus in Potter County.
Amber Depew, director of corporate communications at UPMC Susquehanna, said UPMC is currently working with public health authorities to aid the patient with self-isolation and symptom management at home.
“This case does not require hospitalization, and, if that changes, we are ready to accept this patient to our facilities using infection prevention protocols that will protect the health of our other patients, along with visitors and staff,” explained Depew. “The communities we serve can be reassured that UPMC facilities are safe and staff are well-equipped and trained to properly care for any patient with COVID-19.”
As of Friday, there were an additional 83 positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 268.
All people are either in isolation at home or being treated at the hospital, according to the health department.
“Our notable increase in cases over the last few days indicate we need everyone to take COVID-19 seriously,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. “Pennsylvanians have a very important job right now: stay calm, stay home and stay safe. We have seen case counts continue to increase and the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home.”
Statewide, there are 268 cases of COVID-19 reported from commercial, hospital and state labs. There are 2,574 patients who have tested negative, and one death. With commercial labs being the primary testing option for most Pennsylvanians, data is not available on the total number of tests pending.
