SMETHPORT — A Bradford man who is accused of assaulting someone and damaging an apartment pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to charges in two cases.
Jordan J. Evan, 33, of Bradford, pleaded guilty in one case to charges of aggravated assault and criminal mischief and in the second to criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, on Nov. 1, in Bradford Township, Evan tried to hurt his paramour under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, and he damaged her vehicle, causing a loss of $6,583.08. On that same day, in Bradford City, he broke into a residence and caused $1,152 in damage by damaging a kitchen table, cupboard, a flat screen television and areas of the wall.
Evan will be sentenced April 2.
Also in court, Brandon T. Empson, 27, of Tidioute, pleaded guilty to charges of tampering with physical evidence and recklessly endangering another person. Shaffer said that on March 1, 2019, Empson placed an anonymous 911 call because he was present or came upon a person who had overdosed. Empson left the site, removing a syringe and bag containing about .46 grams of a heroin/fentanyl mixture; he put the syringe in a garbage can in front of Bradford Regional Medical Center and the bag of heroin/fentanyl in a garbage can in front of School Street Elementary School, endangering students and staff. Empson will be sentenced April 2.
Heidi M. Estes, 26, of Shinglehouse, pleaded guilty to a charge of contraband/non-controlled substance. Between March 17 and July 17, Estes tried to furnish to an inmate in the Federal Correctional Institution at McKean numerous items including food, magnets, cotton balls, superglue, alcoholic beverages, cigarettes and more, according to Shaffer. Estes will be sentenced April 2.
William B. Mangalsingh, 36, of Olean, N.Y., pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft. Mangalsingh stole $1,287.55 from Walmart, according to Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy. He will be sentenced April 2.
Christy D. Curtis, 41, pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft. On April 1, Curtis took orange soda and flashlights from Walmart, Murphy said. Curtis will be sentenced April 2.
Johnathon E. Shroyer, 26, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of summary disorderly conduct. According to Murphy, Shroyer was yelling at staff at Bradford Regional Medical Center. He will pay fines and costs.
Crystal L. Morrison, 36, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of retail theft. Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade said that on Dec. 19, Morrison tried to take merchandise from Dollar General. Morrison will pay a fine and costs.
The follow people were accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program:
Donald B. Sigafoes, 53, of Roulette, for DUI-alcohol and possession of a controlled substance; Brandi L. Williams, 24, of Bradford, for DUI-alcohol; Daniel A. McCamey, 65, of Kane, for DUI-alcohol; Jesse J. R. Peffer, 25, of Smethport, DUI-alcohol; and Devon S. Dunkle, 25, of Derrick City, for DUI-general impairment.
