Kyle R. South, 28, of Smethport, waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of burglary, a first-degree felony; criminal trespassing and theft by unlawful taking, second-degree felonies.
According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 10, 2019, South entered a Foster Township home and took items including guns and jewelry. On Jan. 14, 2019, he was arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed 20-mile chase in the Jamestown, N.Y. area; police found a loaded revolver — stolen from the Foster Township home — under the front seat of the car South was driving.
South is incarcerated without bail.
Among other preliminary hearings on Wednesday, Joseph M. Angelo, 28, of 2 Bushnell St., Apt. 422, had the following charges against him bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before District Judge Dominic Cercone: burglary, a first-degree felony; criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony; simple assault, strangulation and resisting arrest, second-degree misdemeanors; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanors; and possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, Angelo forced entry into a Bradford apartment by pushing the door open and assaulted a female there, putting her in a chokehold, dragging her across the floor and striking her in the head several times. When police located him, he allegedly struggled when they tried to take him into custody, and he yelled and used racial slurs. Police also found him to possess methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Angelo is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
Todd W. Hale Jr., 28, of 2 Bushnell St., Apt. 519, had a first-degree misdemeanor charge of terroristic threats against him withdrawn, and he pleaded guilty before Cercone to a charge of loitering and prowling at night time. He will pay fines and costs. Court records filed at the time of his arrest alleged that he left voicemails at a woman’s home saying he would kill her and her children and burn her house down, then he showed up later that night and was banging on the windows.
Shane E. Nudd Jr., 21, of 20 Race St., Bradford, had the following second-degree misdemeanor charges against him withdrawn: four counts of recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault. Nudd, who was accused in 2019 of pointing a gun at several people in the street who had attended a party, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay fines and costs.
