A Port Allegany man was arrested on allegations he was disorderly and intoxicated at a bar and told an officer he wanted to shoot him.

Douglas Smith, 31, of 36 Niles Lane, Port Allegany, was arraigned over the weekend before District Judge Richard Luther on a charge of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; and summary charges of public drunkenness, harassment and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, on Friday night, Port Allegany Borough police were called to a disturbance at Shooter’s Grill and Bar on Main Street in the borough. Officer Adam Dickerson arrived to find Smith shoving other patrons, and the other patrons were trying to get Smith to settle down.

Smith was shut off at the bar “because he was highly intoxicated and was trying to start issues with other patrons,” the complaint stated.

Dickerson tried to get Smith to calm down, and Smith refused, then turned around and pushed Dickerson, according to court records. Smith, who was “still out of control,” was handcuffed, and Dickerson had to help Smith out to the patrol car, as Smith was not willingly going.

While in the patrol vehicle, Smith said several times that he was going to get a gun and shoot Dickerson in the face, the criminal complaint stated.

Smith was incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
