Yes, that was snow falling Wednesday. We will see more today and even some accumulation, but the higher temperatures and sun will take over by next week.
Mike Dangelo, a meteorologist from National Weather Service’s State College office, noted that while winter is still trying to keep a foothold, spring is winning out in the battle of the seasons in our area.
“(Thursday) will be a nice day, with high pressure and high temperatures, maybe a little bit above normal, at around 45 degrees,” Dangelo said. “It clouds up again later tomorrow night, and the low’s going to be about 30. There will be showers moving in, probably mostly snow. There could be maybe an inch or two at the most from that, mainly late Thursday night and early on Friday.”
Dangelo warned that, along with a typical high of 38, the hint of snow will remain in the area’s forecast into the weekend.
“There is still a chance of snow showers Friday night. It stays cooler than normal for Saturday, then warms right back up on Sunday,” Dangelo said. “Then, it will be warm for quite a few days.”
For those who are looking forward to spring, the forecast is favorable. For those who prefer frozen ground over mud, this may not be welcome news.
