A Bradford man accused of assault is one of several cases that was scheduled for preliminary hearings on Wednesday in McKean County.
Richard E. Lewis, 45, of 127 Kennedy St., Apt. 1, Bradford, had an assault case against him bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before District Judge Dominic Cercone. Lewis is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, and simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor. According to the criminal complaint, at 3:22 a.m. Feb. 6, Lewis was in the psychiatric unit at Bradford Regional Medical Center when he pushed a nurse on two separate occasions. The second time, the nurse fell against a wall and onto a water fountain, causing injuries including lacerations to her face and the inside of her lip, as well as bruising on her knee. He is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Wayne C. Swanson, 63, of Kane, waived a hearing before District Judge Richard Luther for drug and DUI charges from an alleged incident on Nov. 23 in Bradford Township. Swanson is charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony; possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of DUI-controlled substance, misdemeanors; and exceeding the maximum speed limit by 14 mph and careless driving, summary charges. Swanson is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
Timothy M. Comilla, 34, of 2 Bushnell St., Apt. 418, Bradford, had a charge of criminal trespass, a third-degree felony, against him bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before Cercone. According to the criminal complaint, on the morning of Feb. 5, a Congress Street resident woke up to find Comilla standing at the foot of the victim’s bed. The victim did not know Comilla’s name, but the person recognized him from a couple weeks prior, when he allegedly stopped at the home with his girlfriend to solicit money. Comilla is in jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Richard I. Foster, 35, of 13618 Newton Town Road, Titusville, had a charge of criminal trespassing, a third-degree felony, against him bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before Cercone. The criminal complaint states that at 9:03 a.m. Feb. 10, someone called Bradford City Police because Foster entered 59 Clarence St. — an empty, placarded residence. The officer could hear someone inside, but the person fled; the officer followed footprints in the snow and talked to neighbors until Foster was located in a shed in the neighborhood. He is in jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
