EDINBORO — Despite having several runners out with illness, the Bradford HS boys indoor track team had strong performances at the Tri-State Coaches Championship Meet at Edinboro over the weekend.
The 4×200 relay team of Jake Pattison, Ryan Miller, Andrew Kane and Isaiah Pingie finished seventh in a time of 1:37 and just missed the Bradford indoor record of 1:36.74.
“These guys were really great this winter and they showed that the spring group will be the heart of this year’s outdoor team,” head coach Tom Tessena said. “There are about 50-60 schools in the Tri-State Coaches Association so it is hard to place in this meet.”
Next up, in the 4×400 relay, the quartet of Pattison, Pingie, Tyler Kraft and Miller took third overall with a time of 3:37.07.
“Jake started us off with a great leg,” Tessena said. “Isaiah took the bottom and moved us up close to third place. Tyler ran an outstanding leg to keep us close and Ryan took it from there, running 52.0 for his anchor leg. These guys have worked very hard this indoor season and will be our leaders as we start the outdoor season on (Mar. 2).”
Tessena also noted that both Gavin McGee and Ryan Cottillion qualified for the meet but weren’t able to participate because of illness. McGee had jumped well enough to place second at the event, while Miller’s relay that they were unable to run would have placed fourth overall.
“That would have given us quite a few more medals but these guys will be back for the spring and their work this winter will make them better as well,” Tessena said. “We (would) also like to congratulate Coach Larry Stillman and the girls team for their fine season and thank him for all his help.”
For the spring sports season, all paperwork and physicals must be turned in by Mar. 2 in order to practice. The paperwork must be turned into the athletic training office this week and anyone seeking additional information should contact Tom Tessena at 368-7028.
