SPRING: Could it be? May spring really be coming?
Debbie Bauer called us Friday to let us know she saw the first red-winged blackbird that morning. “Spring is coming!” she said.
We hope she’s right.

Geese: Harold Whitney of Bradford called in to talk about the trio of planes that flew over Thursday. He also noted that he caught a glimpse of a flock of geese flying Northwest on Tuesday after the slush and snow in the morning. Whitney was outside to shovel his driveway.
He observed there were between 30 and 40 birds in the flock, which caught Whitney’s attention by honking as they traveled over the area. Is this another sign that warmer weather is coming soon?

The Farmers’ Almanac predicts snow for Feb. 20-23 and then fair weather, followed by rain and snow for Feb. 24-29.
For the start of March, the almanac predicts wet conditions, followed by clear and cold. Snow will make a return for March 4-7 — at least according to the Farmers’ almanac weather predictions.
Meanwhile, the Farmers’ Almanac website has a countdown to spring, which is whittling away the seconds and minutes but still boasts 27 days until we see the season change.

Today: Feb. 22 is an interesting mix of nationally recognized “days.” First, it is Be Humble Day, a day to remember what it is to be one person out of 7,577,130,400 on the planet Earth as of 2019.
Next, it is National Margarita Day, which being a Saturday means it is an ideal day to enjoy an adult beverage and relax.
Finally, it is Walking the Dog Day. That may be an item to put on the to-do list before enjoying that adult beverage.
