CONTEST: The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau announced new photo contests for 2020-2021.
From March 2020 through May 2021, PAGO will sponsor five photo contests, each with a different theme. Finalists’ photos will be posted online with the four entries receiving the most votes winning the following: 1st Place $100, 2nd Place $75, 3rd Place $75, and 4th Place $25. To enter, complete the entry form and upload your photos at VisitPAGO.com/contest. The only requirements are that the photo meet the contest theme and must be taken in Jefferson, Elk, Clarion, Forest, or Cameron counties.
The theme for March to May is spring things. For June to August, it’s Sunday drives. September to November will have the theme of the trail less traveled. Flavors of the great outdoors will be the theme from December to February 2021, and hometown pride will be the theme for March to May of 2021.
“With the amazing photographic abilities of cell phones, people are taking more and higher quality pictures than ever before,” said John Straitiff, executive director of PAGO. “Our very popular photo contests can turn those pictures into cash. These contests are a proven way for us to keep in contact with the public and for them to share the many wonderful things in Pennsylvania’s Great Outdoors region through their eyes.”
We checked out the website at visitpago.com, and it features some fantastic photos of this beautiful part of Pennsylvania. There’s a lot of information about the elk herd, too, with viewing tips and maps.
The site has information about elk family groups as well, explaining elk form harems of 15 to 20 cows with one mature bull, when elk get their antlers, when they mate, and when calves are born.
The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau is a membership-based travel promotion organization serving five counties in Northwest Pennsylvania: Jefferson, Elk, Clarion, Forest and Cameron.
