EMPORIUM — Olkosky-Jessop American Legion Post 194 in Emporium hosted the American Red Cross Bloodmobile on Thursday. A total of 27 pints were donated, and three donors reached milestones.
Kenneth Ostrum reached 23 gallons, Dennis Grasser 11 gallons, and Thomas Spolski recorded nine gallons. Dennis Grasser was also our only “double” donor for the day. Gratitude was expressed to these long-time donors for their dedication.
Donating blood is said to be “A Gift of Life” as many will agree. There is always a great need for blood during emergencies, but blood is also needed daily for many routine medical procedures. Whether you have a rare blood type, a universal blood type, or anything in between, your donation is needed. Please consider giving blood and possibly saving another person’s life.
The next blood drive in Emporium will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m April 9.
