The Bradford YMCA will be launched its annual campaign Tuesday to ensure that everyone in the McKean County area has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Every day, year-round, the Bradford YMCA works to support the youth, adults, families and communities that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, healthy weight, diabetes prevention, food insecurity and chronic diseases.
The Y measures success not simply by the amount of dollars it raises, but rather by the number of lives it impacts. As a result of the 2019 campaign, over 2,000 local children got the chance to unplug, get outside and build skills and friendships that last a lifetime.
This year, the Bradford YMCA hopes to raise $142,000. Funds raised will be used to support signature programs and provide financial assistance for families, senior citizens and individuals to ease the cost of camps, childcare and membership.
The Y relies on the generosity of local community members and business, as well as federal and state funding, to carry out its mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
“Throughout the Twin Tiers, countless people know the YMCA. But there’s so much more to our Y than one may think,” said Barb Sweitzer, CEO, YMCA of the Twin Tiers. She continued, “The Y is more than a gym. It is a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”
