ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — While Transit Middle School swept the awards at the regional phase of the 2020 MATHCOUNTS competition, Allegany-Limestone Middle School has been invited to the state competition in March.
The competition, hosted Saturday by St. Bonaventure University, is for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.
Contestants worked both individually and in four-person school teams on questions designed by the National Society of Professional Engineers, the main sponsoring organization.
The six schools competing were: Allegany-Limestone Middle School, West Seneca East Middle School, Transit Middle School, Orchard Park Middle School, Amherst Christian Academy, and Heim Middle School.
The teams from Transit, Allegany-Limestone and West Seneca East have been invited to the New York state competition in March at the RPI campus in Troy. The top individuals from the state contest will advance to the national competition in May.
