The Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center and the Arts in Education Committee will present “Sleeping Beauty,” a Missoula Children’s Theatre Workshop, from June 22 to June 27 at the Bradford Area High School.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day, with a public performance on the last day.
The group is looking for 60 students for acting parts and four assistant directors. Students entering first grade through age 18 may apply.
Among the roles to be cast are Sleeping Beauty; Scarella; Madame Butterfly; the King; the Queen; Spot; Fairies; Trolls; Palace Attendants; and Caterpillars. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week, and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
The cost of the workshop is $100 per student. Scholarships to cover the full weekly tuition are available for select students currently enrolled in Bradford area schools.
A “Theatre Opportunity” Scholarship, for a local student in 1st grade through 12th grade, will be awarded on the basis of teacher recommendation.
Another scholarship is the “Award Scholarship,” available to a student currently in 5th through 12th grade, which will be awarded on the basis of interest and recommendation. The student must write their own paragraph telling why they want to attend the workshop along with their recommendation.
Applications for both of the above scholarships are due March 16.
Students who are not applying for a scholarship can complete a regular registration form. Student registrations are accepted by U.S. Mail no earlier than April 1.
