SMETHPORT — A Kane man who was brought in to McKean County Court Thursday on a bench warrant will serve time in state prison for methamphetamine-related allegations.
A bench warrant was granted in McKean County for Shane M. Hurlburt, 30, of Kane, after he failed to show up to a sentencing hearing Dec. 12. Hurlburt pleaded guilty Nov. 19 to a charge of deposits, store or disposes a precursor or reagent substance, chemical waste or debris used in or resulting from the manufacture of meth.
Hurlburt was sentenced Thursday before President Judge John Pavlock to a term of six to 24 months in prison with credit for 65 days of time served. Also, Hurlburt is to pay a $2,201 lab user fee to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
Court records filed at the time he was first charged alleged that police were trying to find a wanted subject — Hurlburt — who they believed had run into a garage. The garage door was open, and officers could see what looked like a baggie of marijuana, a glass pipe and several items used to manufacture meth. They obtained a search warrant to collect the items.
Hurlburt is awaiting sentencing on a separate drug case out of Warren County. He pleaded guilty Oct. 17 in Warren County Court to a charge of conspiracy-possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, and he was scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 10.
The Warren Times Observer reported that a bench warrant was issued when he failed to appear for sentencing in Warren County.
