Remembering Kobe: Kathe Johnson of Bradford shared a poetic tribute with The Era. She has also posted it to social media, with very positive feedback.
“A Fallen Star”
The house that Kobe built is very
strong without measure;
He held each child so gently so mild;
His wife and family he treasured for such
A short while;
Kobe was strong and even stronger was
His oh so big style; the house that Kobe
Built will be with us for a long long while;
He ran, he jumped, he sunk so many of
Those basketballs with his very own style;
Yes, the house that Kobe built will stand beyond measure;
His wife, family, friends, acquaintances,
Autograph seekers and fans will live
On forever, yes, the house that Kobe
built where he held his basketballs and
Touched so many people will stand strong
As Kobe’s memories will last forever –
What a man — husband — father — friend — mentor
And now a legend and a fallen star!

Information in print: A local reader wrote to The Era about the Jan. 22 RTS that covered properly disposing of electronics. They brought up a very interesting question: what is the best retirement for old encyclopedias and textbooks? This reader was of the opinion that “true” information does not become outdated and need to be tossed away because it is in an “old” book. However, they said they do realize that space may not be available to keep books that are 60+ years old.
This reader thinks “Perhaps it is just one of life’s unsolvable dilemmas.”
