A Bradford pair is in McKean County Jail after being accused of stealing items from an acquaintance’s apartment.
Christian C. Clark, 29, of 31 W. Corydon St., was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone, while Heather N. Carter, 22, of Bradford, was arraigned Friday before Cercone.
Both are charged with theft by unlawful taking, second-degree felonies: Clark with four counts of theft and Carter with one.
According to the criminal complaint, on April 25, Jonathan Farnham gave Clark and Carter permission to be at his apartment while he was at work between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
When Farnham returned home he realized that numerous items were missing, including his PlayStation 4, two wireless controllers, an Acer laptop and a large quantity of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in a binder. The total value of the missing items was $4,292.10, the complaint stated.
The investigating officer went to 31 W. Corydon St., and the man who answered said to her, “Here they are, you can arrest them,” court records read. The officer asked why he said that, and he explained to her that someone told him Clark and Carter had stolen things. The man let the officer come in and look.
In plain view there was a 1 ½-foot tall stack of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and dragon items — Farnham collects dragon items, records stated.
According to the complaint, Carter also said the officer could look at all of her things, then she started dumping out all of her bags on top of the cards. The officer asked about the PlayStation 4 and other items, and she told her that she didn’t take them. The officer then why Carter had the Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards, and Carter said Farnham gave them away.
Clark is incarcerated in lieu of $5,000 bail and Carter is in jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is scheduled for Central Court today.
