ST. MARYS — The Owls outrebounded St. Marys at a 2:1 rate, Tyler Gigliotti poured in 21 points and Bradford again played stellar defense to earn a big District 9 League victory.
Leading by just four after the first quarter, Bradford controlled the final 24 minutes to pick up a 64-33 win on Wednesday over the Dutch.
Of his 21 points, nine came in the third quarter as Bradford (10-7, 3-3) put up 27 points over those three minutes in an offensive spurt. The Owls shot 49% in the game
“We’re finally healthy again and we’re playing together,” Bradford head coach Brian Hobbs said. “Steve (Knowlton, 13 points) is really stepping up his game and that was a nice night for him. We’ve been waiting for that and he’s finally coming through.
“We just played really well tonight, especially in transition.”
On the glass, it was Bradford’s guards that helped it outrebounded St. Marys 43-22. Peyton Manion had 10 boards and Steve Knowlton eight.
St. Marys (4-12, 1-6) shot just 25% on the night, including 3-for-18 from 3-point range. Leading scorer Cahil Parrish was held to seven points, and it was a much different game from when Bradford beat the Dutch 53-49 earlier this year.
“(Parrish) is a little banged up right now, but Caleb (Nuzzo) did a nice job of just keeping him in front and controlling his dribble,” Hobbs said. “Really have to give Caleb credit for his defense.
Evan Schmidt had 10 points for Bradford, which is home to Wellsville (N.Y.) on Friday.

AML
Kane 48, Ridgway 25
KANE — After perhaps its most impressive victory, Ridgway struggled, particularly on offense, in a road loss to Kane in AML crossover play.
The Wolves (12-6, 6-3) held Ridgway (11-6, 5-3) to two points in the first quarter and just nine in the first half to amass a 16-9 lead. Those efforts continued into the second half, as Kane outpaced the Elkers 32-16 the rest of the way.
Chad Greville led all scorers with 22 points, including a game-high five 3-pointers on the night, while Matt DeLuca added 10 points for the Wolves.
For Ridgway, which had defeated Kane 48-29 in December and had just upset Clarion-Limestone Monday night, the 25 points mark a new season low in scoring. Zack Zameroski scored 17 points for the Elkers.
