Facts of the Day: Today is the 39th day of winter and the fifth Wednesday of 2020. It is also the 29th day of the year, meaning we have 337 days left of 2020.
According to the 2020 Farmers’ Almanac, there are certain days throughout the year that are best for specific activities. Today is a good day to bake, for example. The prediction of these days and the activities to complete is based on the Zodiac and position of the moon, so take the advice however you prefer.
Today is also a good day to cut firewood, dig holes and kill plant pests.

Use eggshells: Reading through the Farmers’ Almanac, we came across the following uses for eggshells.
Rather than tossing them in the trash, use as an additive to bird feed and chicken feed to add calcium, add to ground coffee before brewing to cut down on the bitter aftertaste, or add to soil for houseplants to add minerals and help keep the soil aerated.
Eggshells can also be used with soapy water as a natural abrasive for pots and pans — this can come in handy on a camping trip.
In the spring and summer, scattering eggshells around vegetables and flowers is a good deterrent for deer, slugs and snails. It also keeps the cats out of your garden, reducing the chances they see it as their outdoor litter box.
