A St. Marys man is in Elk County Jail for allegations he was involved in a domestic dispute along Atlantic Street in St. Marys on Thursday.
According to St. Marys City Police, officers responded Thursday to a domestic disturbance on Atlantic Street, in which a male was reported to be hurting a female, then carrying her down the street.
Court records state that Richard L. Butts, 25, is charged with unlawful restraint/serious bodily injury, a first-degree misdemeanor; false imprisonment, recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; and criminal mischief, a summary charge.
Butts is committed to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11 before District Judge Mark Jacob.
Court records indicate the allegations come just two days after he was released on bail for a separate ongoing case.
According to court records, Butts was released on unsecured bail Jan. 21 on the date of his preliminary hearing for a trespassing case.
The case docket states that he is charged with criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony, and criminal mischief, a third-degree misdemeanor, for allegations that happened on Jan. 10 in St. Marys. The docket indicates he committed to jail in lieu of $10,000 monetary bail on Jan. 15, then the bail type was changed to $10,000 unsecured on Jan. 21.
Butts waived a preliminary hearing in the trespassing case, and he is scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment on March 2 in Elk County Court.
