ERIE — A man pleaded guilty in federal court in Erie for allegations that he failed to show up for his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution at McKean in Lafayette Township.
Julian P. Villar Jr., 55, an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Milan, Mich., entered the plea to one count of escape after conviction before U.S. District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady announced on Monday.
According to information provided to the court, in July, Villar failed to report to the satellite camp at FCI-McKean after being furloughed from FCI-McKean on July 9. He was incarcerated in FCI-Milan due to being convicted of distributing heroin in the Northern District of Illinois.
Baxter set a sentencing date of 1:30 p.m. May 11.
By law, someone convicted of escape after conviction could face up to five years in prison, a fine of $250,00, or both. The actual sentence Villar receives will depend on factors including his prior criminal history and the seriousness of the new offense.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The U.S. Marshal Service and officers of the Federal Bureau of Prisons conducted the investigation into the allegations.
