Bradford Area Public Library is offering introductory computer classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays on Feb. 4 to 13 from 5 to 6 p.m.
They are free and open to the public. Participants must pre-register for the classes. Although participants are not required to have prior experience with the topics, they must have a basic knowledge of computers. Space for each class is limited to 12 participants. On Feb. 4, the class will be The Word on Word, which will cover the basics of Microsoft Word. Learn how to create documents, posters, and letters using Microsoft Word. An essential program for work, school, or just everyday use. No prior experience with the program is required.
On Feb. 6, Excel with Excel, where participants will learn how to create spreadsheets and charts with Microsoft Excel. An essential program for work, school, or just everyday use. No prior experience is required.
Fun with Facebook will be offered Feb. 11. Learn how to set up a Facebook page and connect with friends and family. This workshop will cover how to set up a Facebook account, connect with friends and families, join Facebook groups and buy or sell items in the Facebook Marketplace. Learn how to post a story, comment or share a post. The class will also talk about the dark side of Facebook, like dealing with trolls, fake accounts, and what to do if your account is hacked.
The final class, Feb. 13, will be Just Google it, a basic introduction to Google.
Google started as just a search engine but now it offers so much more. Google’s search engine was Google’s first product and continues to be the company’s most popular product. Google web searches provide relevant results quickly. Today, Google offers other products such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google Calendar, YouTube, Android operating system, Google Docs, and Google Drive. With a Google account, participants can easily access these and other programs from any device. Learn the basics about setting up a Google account, using Google products and how to sync Google services to your phone, tablet, and computer.
