Lewis Run man facing charges following one-vehicle accident in Lewis Run
LEWIS RUN — A Lewis Run man was cited following a one-vehicle crash at 7:46 p.m. Saturday on South Lafayette Avenue, Lewis Run Borough, McKean County.
According to Lewis Run-based state police, a sport utility vehicle driven by Charles Harpster, 63, was traveling north on Lafayette Avenue, when it attempted to turn left to travel south on South Lafayette Avenue. The vehicle left the roadway, striking two traffic signs and four fence posts on private property before leaving the scene and heading south on U.S. Route 219.
Upon further investigation, police located Harpster and determined that he was driving under the influence. Charges are pending, with the primary violation listed as careless driving.
Harpster suffered suspected minor injuries and it was unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police. The SUV sustained minor damage in the crash.
One-vehicle accident reported in Fox Township
RIDGWAY — No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash at 1 a.m. Thursday on Four Points Road, Fox Township, Elk County.
According to Ridgway-based state police, a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert Clark, 39, of Weedville, was traveling south on Four Points Road, when it lost control due to icy conditions, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road and hit a tree. The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the left front tire and left front quarter panel.
Clark was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police. He was cited with not following the laws regarding driving on roadways laned for traffic.
