PUNXSUTAWNEY — The cause of a fire that destroyed a two-story home at 7:28 a.m. Friday on U.S. Route 6 in Hamlin Township has not been determined, Punxsutawney-based state police reported.
According to police, a state police fire marshal was brought in to assist the Hamlin Township Fire Department in the investigation. Investigators determined the fire originated in a second floor bedroom.
The victims, whose names were not released, were identified by police as a 60-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl. All three were able to escape without injury, and no one else was injured, either, police said.
Damage was estimated at $100,000, according to police.
The investigation continues.
