Most of us have had the unnerving experience of a vehicle breaking down or sliding off the road in the midst of a snowstorm at some point. Towmen and tow-women across the nation are the most called upon to help in these times of need.
On Dec. 7, 2019, in Atlantic City, Donovan Sevrey, co-owner of Donovan’s Towing, was awarded the Order of the Towman Award. Presented by American Towman, the national award is given to towers in honor of their dedication to the towns they serve. Individuals are nominated for the award by local police and fire chiefs.
“I felt honored to even be nominated for an award like that because it’s a national award,” recalled Sevrey. “To actually win the award — it was an even greater honor.”
Sevrey said he originally became a towman because it was a way to help people out in the community.
“I just like to help the community out — when people are down and at their worst,” added Sevrey.
Sevrey has been a towman for over 20 years. He started out at Dexter’s Service and Collision, where he eventually moved on to Clayt’s Body Shop and Towing. He started Donovan’s Towing in June of 2017, with his business partner, Matt Cobb.
While Donovan’s towing started out with one rollback truck, the business has now expanded to two rollback trucks and a wrecker.
