SMETHPORT — The McKean County Conservation District is hosting a workshop for farmers and others interested in pesticide update credits and training.
The Winter Farmer’s Meeting will be held Feb. 7 from noon – 4 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Church Parish Hall, Smethport. Pre-registration is required by Feb. 1. Call 814-887-4001.
This afternoon class is worth 3 category and 2 core pesticide credits. The class has the following pesticide credits approved by Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture: 00 Core-2; PC Private-3, 01 Agronomic Crops-2, 05 Forest Pest Control-1, 18 Demonstration & Research-3, 23 Park/School Pest Control-1. There is no cost for the credits, but to receive them participants must bring their pesticide license card or number.
Registration is free and lunch will be provided.
Presentations include water quality and groundwater protection with Danielle Rhea, water resources educator with Penn State Extension; forage diseases and sampling with Nicole Santangelo, extension educator in agronomy, Penn State Extension; Farm Bill update, NRCS program highlights and NRCS forestry herbicide program with Amanda Murdock, Suzanne Klinger, and Mary Baker, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
