EMPORIUM — A huge fourth quarter, a game-high 25 points from Dino Brown and a double-double from Caden Beldin powered Cameron County past visiting Smethport, 54-39.
Beldin poured in 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Red Raiders (5-1, 5-0), while Brown scored a personal season-high 25 for the second time this year.
Cameron County only led Smethport 34-32 entering the fourth quarter, but outscored the Hubbers 20-7 in the game’s final period to stay undefeated in NTL play.
“It wasn’t our best shooting night. We were home and normally we shoot better,” Cameron County coach Mark Guido said. “We got off to a slow start, so we made a concerted effort to get to the rim and either draw contract or get easier baskets. It took us a while, but we were able to get it going and grind one out.”
Smethport (4-5, 3-3) was paced by Noah Lent’s 12 points and Layne Shall’s 10. The Hubbers host Austin Wednesday.
Cameron County, meanwhile, has a showdown with Coudersport that night, with the winner taking full control of the NTL’s top spot.
