The Bradford City Water Authority repaired a leak near Tops Friendly Market on Sunday.
According to Executive Director Steve Disney, the on-call employee received a call about 3 a.m. Sunday informing him of the issue.
“They got it shut down pretty quickly,” Disney said of the eight-inch line, noting that no one was out of water, as there are no customers connected to the line that had cracked. A repair crew was brought out at about 7 a.m.
He said the shipping dock area at Tops was flooded, and there was some minor water infiltration in their dock doors. Employees did a good job of quickly containing the water, and there was no product damage, he added.
Repairs were complete around noon Sunday, according to Disney.
Disney noted the authority was also having trouble with the operation of a fire hydrant at the corner of Main and Davis streets. He said they are taking it out of service and will schedule a repair for this week.
“There’s a lot of other available hydrants in the area,” he noted. It wouldn’t impact fire protection at all.”
