KANE — An informational meeting regarding Penn State Extension’s Master Gardener Basic Class will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 14 at Friends Memorial Library, 230 Chase St., Kane.
The training class will take place this spring in Kane. Master gardeners learn about such topics as landscape design, tree fruits, native plants, indoor plants, the vegetable garden, plant diseases, basic botany, soil health and fertilizer, woody ornamentals, plant diagnostics, controlling pests and pruning ornamental plants. The mission of the Penn State Master Gardener volunteer program is to use research-based information to educate the public on best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.
