Bradford woman jailed for alleged use of fake money
A Bradford woman will face a preliminary hearing Jan. 15 for allegedly using fake money in an attempt to buy merchandise at the Dollar Tree on Dec. 19.
Crystal Morrison, 36, of 257 Jackson Ave., is charged with forgery, a second-degree felony, and theft by deception, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, Foster Township police were dispatched to the store for a report of a woman attempting to purchase $73 worth of merchandise with a fake $100 bill.
She was arraigned Monday, remanded to jail in lieu of $30,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Jan. 15 before District Judge Rich Luther. She is represented by the McKean County Public Defender’s office.
Smethport woman charged with DUI with minor in vehicle
A Smethport woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child for an alleged DUI with an underage female in her vehicle.
Loriann Frappier, 39, of 13244 Route 6, is charged with child endangerment, a first-degree misdemeanor; recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor; DUI of drugs and several summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 15, a state trooper was behind Frappier’s vehicle in Smethport Borough and stopped it for an alleged violation. The trooper said Frappier appeared to be under the influence, and was taken for blood testing, which showed methamphetamine and amphetamines in her system, the complaint alleged.
Frappier is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Jan. 13 before District Judge Bill Todd in Smethport. She remains free on $2,000 unsecured bail. She is represented by the McKean County Public Defender’s office.
Coudersport man charged in alleged wallet theft
A Coudersport man has been charged with allegedly taking someone else’s wallet from Sheetz in Port Allegany.
Kent Rissel, 32, of Avenue A, is charged with theft and receiving stolen property, both first-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 11, Rissel was seen on the store’s surveillance video taking someone else’s wallet from the counter in the store. The victim told police there was $953 in cash in the wallet. The wallet was later recovered with only $40 in it, the complaint alleged.
Rissel, who is free on $5,000 unsecured bail, is scheduled for Central Court Jan. 9. He is represented by attorney Jay Carr of Olean, N.Y.
