SMETHPORT — A Bradford man was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to a term in state prison for methamphetamine-related charges in two cases.
Jordan M. Johnson, 19, of Bradford, will serve one to two years in prison with credit for 97 days of time served for two cases. He is charged in one case with conspiracy-possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and in the other with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Dec. 5, Johnson pleaded guilty to allegations that on Sept. 28, he agreed with Christine Cutlip and William Doran to deliver between 20 and 30 grams of methamphetamine, and on Sept. 6, Johnson possessed meth and a straw used to ingest meth.
Cutlip and Doran are both scheduled to appear for last-day-to-plea conferences in the delivery case on Jan. 23.
Also in court, Contessa N. Haun, 32, of Bradford, was sentenced to 45 days to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for three days of time served for charges of simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and a summary charge. She was found guilty at a Dec. 11 jury trial. The criminal complaint filed at the time of her arrest alleged that Haun disciplined a 6-year-old boy by hitting him with a belt multiple times and placing him in a corner. Later, he was having trouble sitting down in school due to severe bruising on his back and buttocks.
Jessica L. Weikel, 31, of Bradford, will serve 21 days to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for 21 days of time served for a charge of recklessly endangering another person.
Weikel pleaded guilty Nov. 14 to allegations that on May 15, she helped her former cellmate, Teagan Grove, flee from police when Grove was wanted on a warrant. Weikel provided a car, which Grove operated during a high-speed chase with police. The chase ended in a crash. Grove is serving 2 to 4 years in state prison for her role in the chase. On Thursday, District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer noted that Weikel’s “role in this was much less than her codefendant’s.”
Stephan P. Belt, 35, of Bradford, will serve two months to one year in McKean County Jail and one year of consecutive probation for a charge of recklessly endangering another person. Belt, the father of a boy who was 3 years old on April 25, failed to watch the boy for a period of at least an hour that day while Belt slept on the couch; The child went outside and was wandering the streets of Bradford, according to the allegations he pleaded guilty to on Nov. 14. Shaffer noted on Thursday that all parents make mistakes, but the reason this case was pursued is this was at least the fourth time the boy was found roaming the streets of Bradford without supervision.
John-Jay F. Rhodes Jr., 37, of Rixford, will serve 25 days to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for one day of time served for charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and summary charges. On Sept. 19, Rhodes pleaded no contest to allegations that on May 2, while the victim was trying to get Rhodes out of a truck in the parking lot of Bradford Regional Medical Center, he grabbed her and caused her to fall to the ground. He was under the influence of alcohol to a degree that he was a danger to himself and others.
Nikole D. Rook, 24, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of false reports-report offense that did not occur. On Oct. 31, Rook pleaded guilty to allegations that on Oct. 17, 2018, she reported a rape knowing it did not occur.
Brent M. McGuire, 43, of Bradford, will serve 18 months of probation for a charge of simple assault.
Robert J. Shall, 43, of Smethport, will serve 18 months of probation for a charge of unsworn falsification to authorities. Shall pleaded guilty Dec. 5 to allegations that on July 22, he marked a false answer on the Firearm Transaction Record form.
Harley B. Sellers, 41, of Bradford, will serve six months to two years in state prison with credit for 455 days of time served for retail theft charges in two cases. On Dec. 5, Sellers pleaded guilty to allegations that on March 23, he took merchandise from Walmart, and on April 1, he altered labels on items for sale.
Amber L. Harris, 23, of Bradford, will serve three days to one year in state prison with credit for 97 days of time served for a charge of simple assault. Harris pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to allegations that on Aug. 17, she struck a man in the face and shoulder during a fight by mutual consent, said Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy.
Dale A. Carothers, 57, of Butler, will serve six days to six months in McKean County Jail with credit and one year of concurrent probation for charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI-controlled substance and a summary charge.
Melissa K. Moyer, 40, of Eldred, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for charges of DUI-alcohol and summary charges.
